From increasing farmer’s income to introducing reforms in labour law; Union Cabinet slates new development scale

New Delhi, July 4: With new faces, the Modi 2.0 cabinet highlighted the exact same mindset that they carried five years back; ‘Development of People’. Continuing the same by fulfilling expectations of masses, the government has given its approval for many agreements with extending support of completing the work at the earliest.

Envisioning its fruitful relationship with international countries, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved various pacts ensuring a throbbing development scale for India. From approving ferry services between India and Maldives to leasing three airports through Public Private Partnership (PPP), the Union Cabinet has pulled up its sock to bring development in India. Along with this the cabinet also approved the proposal for Grant of Organized Group ‘A’ Service.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar while speaking to the media informed that the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of leasing out of three airports; Ahmadabad, Mangalore and Lucknow to the highest bidder to Adani Enterprises for operation, management and development under PPP for 50 years.

Giving a major boost to the farmers’ income, the Union Cabinet approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all kharif crops for 2019-20 Season. The move will lead to increased investment and production through assured remunerative prices to the farmers.

In a bid to simplify the nation's heavy and complex labour laws, the Union Cabinet approved the introduction of Code of Wages Bill which would then subsume The Minimum Wages Act, 1948, Payment of Wages Act 1936, Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 and Equal Remuneration Act 1976. The Code of Wages Bill, which is to be introduced in the ongoing Budget session of the Parliament would benefit over 50 crore workers across the nation, if passed by both the houses of the Parliament.

Giving an ex-post facto approval for the Memorandum of Understanding, the Union Cabinet accepted the agreement signed on June 8, 2019, nodding for ferry service between India and Maldives for cargo transportation and enraging tourism.

The Union Cabinet approved the MoU between India and Morocco for developing, promoting and strengthening mutual cooperation between the judiciaries of the two countries.
