On misconduct by broadcasters, Delhi HC issues notice I&B Ministry and TRAI

New Delhi, Jul. 5: New rules of TRAI are creating a huge confusion in the minds of consumers. Now, adding in this confusion, the rates of the broadcasters are also differing every and now.
 
 
 
 
 
On this whole issue, Delhi High Court issues notice to Information and Broadcasting Ministry and TRAI and sought their response on a plea alleging broadcaster illegally collected crores of money from customers.
A division bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Harishankar was hearing a petition filed by advocate on behalf of Delhi based NGO. The petition said, “broadcasters collected thousands of crores of money by consumers on the basis of the 11th and 13th Traffic Amendment Orders (TAO).
The petition added these orders were later set aside by Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) and remanded to the TRAI to file replies before the next date of hearing slated on Sept. 11.
The advocate of NGO petitioning said, “The court that the petitioner 1st approved TRAI but they said, “they don’t have any role to play, whereas per section 11 & 12 of TRAI Act, the regulatory body has the power to call information, conduct investigations.
