New Delhi, July 8: Revealing the power of folk music, Gujarati folk singer Geeta Rabri today dedicated a song to the Prime Minister after meeting him for the first time in Parliament, further acknowledging the blessings he gave her.

After meeting PM Modi, Rabri said that she met him for the first time when she was a child. “I sang in school, he awarded me Rs 250 and asked me to keep practicing. We're Maldhari people living in jungle. My father once received a post card of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao", and then decided to send me to the school”, she said.

The Gir Forest National Park is home to more than 8,400 Maldharis, who predominantly eek a living by producing milk. Rabari has meanwhile received 25 million views for the song written for the Prime Minister, back in year 2017.

According to Rabari's wiki bio, she started singing when she was in 5th standard and made her debut with Gujarati song Rona Ser Ma. She shot to fame with Eklo Rabari and has since then established herself as a well-known folk singer of the state.
