Raipur, August 19: In a good success, Four Naxalite kneeled down before the law today in Chhattisgarh. Four Naxalites, including the PLGA section commander, have surrendered in Bijapur district. Attracted by the government's Naxal rehabilitation policy, the Naxalites have surrendered.

The PLGA section commander has a prize of 8 lakhs. The four Naxalites surrendered before DIG CRPF Komal Singh and SP Divyang Patel. On surrender, the Naxalites said, now they also want to join the mainstream of society. He had taken up arms because of living a life of freedom and not having access to basic village facilities and government schemes.

Of the surrendered Naxals, Rakesh Uika (26), section commander of the Peoples' Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion no. 1, was "one of the most dreaded rebels," Patel said.

Uika, carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head, was instrumental in executing several deadly attacks on security forces in South Bastar since he joined the outlawed outfit in 2010, he said.

He was allegedly involved in the nine major attacks, including in Bhejji (Sukma district) in 2017 in which 12 security personnel were killed and in Kasalpad, where eight jawans lost their lives, the SP said.

Another surrendered cadre, Kukkem Sukku (32), who was "equally dreaded" and active as section deputy commander in military platoon no. 13 of Bhairamgarh area committee of Maoists, was carrying a reward on Rs 3 lakh, he said.

The people who became Naxalites were angry that even after so many years of independence, neither the central government could reach their village nor any benefit of the state schemes reached them. Their feelings were further instigated by the Naxalites and they took up the gun. But seeing the Naxalites who have surrendered earlier, their thinking has changed and now they also want to join the mainstream.
