Dehradun, August 21: Preparations for the formation of Char Dham Shrine Management Board in Uttarakhand have intensified. At present, there is no such Shrine Board in Uttarakhand which handles the travel arrangements of Badrinath, Kedarnath as well as Gangotri and Yamunotri Temple. In view of the need to set up a Shrine Board for better travel arrangements, work has started on the proposal of the Act.

The Culture Department has given a presentation in this regard in front of the Chief Secretary a few days ago. As the Badri Kedar Mandir Committee Act, made in 1935, has become very old, the government is not considering it suitable under new circumstances.

Apart from Badrinath and Kedarnath, 36 other temples are being operated by this act, but Gangotri and Yamunotri temples are not covered. All these situations are setting the basis for the formation of Char Dham Shrine Management Board by creating a new Act.

In the year 2018, more than 28 lakh pilgrims have visited Char Dham. The temple committee oversees the travel arrangements of Badrinath and Kedarnath temples, while it has no control over the visits of Gangotri and Yamunotri. The travel arrangements of Gangotri and Yamunotri see different committees there. Because of this, there is always a lack of coordination in the travel system.
