‘We’ve lost a towering intellectual and legal luminary’, BJP leaders mourn over Arun Jaitley's death

New Delhi, August 24: Waking ahead in a personal loss to the Bharatiya Janata Party by passing away of the former Finance Minister and a towering intellectual, Arun Jaitley today, the party members have moved up expressing deep grief after the AIIMS issued his death statement.
 
“Arun Jaitley Ji was a political giant, towering intellectual and legal luminary. He was an articulate leader who made a lasting contribution to India. His passing away is very saddening”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a day’s visit to UAE.
 
 
"With the demise of Jaitley Ji,I have lost a valued friend,whom I have had the honour of knowing for decades. His insight on issues and nuanced understanding of matters had very few parallels. He lived well, leaving us all with innumerable happy memories.We will miss him!", he added. 
 
Further having spoken to his family members, wife and son, PM Modi expressed his condolences while both of them have requested him to not to cancel his current foreign tour. Meanwhile, other ministers also have moved up sharing their soulful grief over the social media.

The veteran BJP leader had not been keeping well for some time. He had taken a three month sabbatical to undergo a kidney transplant last year, following which he was put under isolation. Further due to his poor health, he was forced to fly to the United States for medical treatment. Jaitley’s death meanwhile comes almost a week after the death of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, making a major personal loss to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The 66 year old leader, held important portfolios during the first tenure of PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
