New Delhi, August 28:  Turning into having a most out of the movement, Prime Minister Narednra Modi on Tuesday headed up thanking Bollywood actor Aamir Khan for his encouraging words to curb the single use plastic. “This will inspire others to strengthen the initiative”, he said taking to the social media.
 
This is probably a day after Khan tweeted in support of the Prime Minister, which was a day after PM Modi called for a mass movement against single-use plastic from October 2 that marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,

 
 
"The initiative by the Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi to curb 'single use plastic' is an effort all of us should strongly support. It's up to each of us to make sure we stop using single use plastic”, he said who often voices concern on environmental issues.
 
In his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, PM Modi urged people to observe October 2 as a day to make India plastic-free and exhorted municipalities, NGOs and the corporates to come up with ways for safe disposal of accumulated plastic waste before Diwali.
"This year, when we celebrate Bapu's 150th birth anniversary, we shall not only dedicate to him an India that is Open Defecation Free, but shall also lay the foundation of a new revolution against plastic, by people themselves, throughout the country. Let us celebrate Gandhi Jayanti this year as a mark of plastic free Mother India. Let us celebrate October 2 as a special day”, he said.
 
In his Independence Day address too on August 15, 2019, PM Modi had urged citizens to eliminate single-use plastic and suggested that shopkeepers provide eco-friendly bags to customers. The Prime Minister's push against single-use plastic is being seen as an effort to prevent environmental degradation.
