Warning to take stern action for disturbing peace, J&K Police cautions those spreading fake rumours on social media

Srinagar, August 30: Creating fear among the masses by spreading fake rumours of tension in the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has asserted a warning to take stern action against the culprits. Warning against any attempts to instigate public, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said any person involved will be dealt with strictly under the law and stern action will be initiated against them.

 

Off lately, there are several fake rumours and posts on social media and social networking sites instigating people and fearmongering them about peace disruption in the valley. Police Media Centre Jammu on Thursday said, “J&K Police once again warns all the mischievous people that whosoever will attempt to instigate the public by spreading rumours & fake posts having potential to disturb peace will be dealt strictly under law & stern action will be initiated.”

The police said they have booked five persons for making insensitive remarks on social media having the potential to disturb the peace and creating law and order problems.

“All the accused booked who are residents of Rajouri & Poonch district are working outside J&K & their fake updates, posts & comments are having potential to disturb peace & could have led to law & order problems here in Rajouri & Poonch districts,” Police Media Centre said
