Gandhinagar, August 30: “India has strong macroeconomic fundamentals and it is the fastest growing economy. This regime therefore takes decisions not to please people but to improve the lives of people and develop the nation”, said MHA Amit Shah while addressing the 7th Convocation of PDPU at Gandhinagar.

He conveyed the students that life is full of possibilities, and only those with courage could make most of those opportunities. He urged the graduating students to never aim for less and always be ambitious in their goals, and do the best they could in the new chapter of their lives.

Shah further explained the concept of integral humanism and said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was a great thinker who saw the problems of today’s world more than six decades ago and found solutions for the same.
“The coming age is that of global warming and climate change, and these issues are slated to become increasingly important”, he said noting that PM Modi had provided leadership at global level to tackle the issue of climate change.

Turing the focus to economy and the slowdown aligned, he said that India had achieved a World Bank Ease of Doing Business Rank of 77 in 2019 and noted PM Modi’s goal of making India one of the world’s three largest economies by 2022, and that of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy.

Later in the day, Shah flagged off the first ever eco-friendly battery battery-operated electric bus and also participated in the tree plantation drive organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to mark culmination of the civic body's 3 month long campaign 'Mission Million Tree', which aimed at planting 10 lakh trees in Ahmedabad.
