Taking strong stance against corrupt practices, UGC to set up panel to inquire about allegations about ‘degree on sale’

New Delhi, Aug. 30: The education, on hand it's a work of nation-building; but on the other hand, there are some corrupt practices which disgrace the entire education system. The same incident occurred in media reports recently.
 

 
 
There are media reports about 'alleged racket prevailing' in several parts of the country where agents would claim to arrange degrees of recognized universities without need for students to attend classes or sit an exam.
 
To investigate the entire issue, The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, on Friday, directed the University Grants Commission to constitute a high-level committee to inquire into allegations of sale of fake degrees by certain universities.
 
 
 
On this issue, HRD Ministry said, “In response to media reports, the Human Resource Development Ministry has ordered UGC to immediately constitute a high-level committee to enquire into allegations regarding the sale of fake degrees by certain universities”.
  
HRD Ministry added, The committee is required to complete its inquiry within three weeks and identify institutions and individuals that have resorted to such illegal practices so that strict action can be taken against all concerned.
 
 
 
 
While addressing the issue, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said, he had instructed the concerned institutions to conduct the strict investigation. he said, "whoever is guilty, strict action will be taken against them.''
