New Delhi, August 31: Enclosing itself from facing the grunt of people on forced abduction and conversion, Pakistan claimed that the police officials have arrested eight people in connection to the case of Sikh girl being abducted. Addressing reports from the media, Pakistan also claimed that the girl was sent back to home to her family. Contradictory to the news, Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Sirsa tweeted on Saturday that the Sikh girl has not yet returned home.

MLA Sirsa in his tweet alleged that the Sikh girl was shown to her parents from a distance at Governor’s House. He slammed Pakistan for spreading false news in a bid to curb Sikh anger. He said that this was bid by the country to prevent Sikhs from protesting during the International Sikh Convention of Lahore. He categorically states that the Sikh girl has not returned home.

The brother of Sikh girl who was allegedly abducted and converted to Islam in Pakistan said, “Our sister has not been returned to us till now, these reports are wrong, neither arrests made yet. I appeal to PM Imran Khan, Army Chief and Punjab Governor to ensure justice to us.”

Taking cognizance of the situation, India has asked Pakistan for immediate remedial action in connection with the recent incident about the abduction and forced conversion of a minor girl from Sikh community there. In response to a media query in this regard, External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Raveesh Kumar said that the Ministry has received a number of representations from various quarters of civil society in India, including Sikh religious bodies at the reports of the incident of abduction and forced conversion of a minor Sikh girl in Pakistan.

He said, India has shared these concerns with the Government of Pakistan and asked for immediate remedial action.

MLA Sirsa posted the video on Twitter and appealed to Pakistani Sikhs to seek help from Imran Khan. He also urged PM Narendra Modi and EAM Dr. S Jaishankar to raise this issue. The family has alleged that she was converted by coercion. They said that she was threatened that her brothers and father would be shot if she did not convert to Islam.
