New Delhi, August 6: Sacrificing their lives for Kashmir, fighting rigorously to uphold the dignity of the state, Jammu and Kashmir holds an emotional connection of national interest. With a historic step on scrapping Article 370, the government strongly stands strong against to throw away Pakistan’s immoral control over Kashmir. Exhibiting the zeal and courage Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday lashed out at Congress as he said he was even willing to sacrifice his life for the whole of Kashmir. ‘Jaan bhi de denge.’

During the debate over the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, Union Home Minister hit hard at Congress when the opposition party questioned the move on abrogation of Article 370 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government. Home Minister responded saying that when he talks about Jammu and Kashmir, it includes Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and Aksai Chin. He said, “Main sadan mein jab jab Jammu and Kashmir rajya bola hoon tab tab Pakistan occupied Kashmir aur Aksai Chin dono iska hissa hain, ye baat hai...Jaan de denge iske liye!”

The Congress attack on the government was led by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who alleged that government must clarify if PoK is a bilateral issue. In a strong rebuttal of the attack by the Congress, the Home Minister asked, “The Congress must explain if it wants an intervention by the United Nations in Kashmir. There is no legal or constitutional dispute on the fact that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country...Even the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir says that the state is an internal part of Union of India,” said the Home Minister.

Explaining the legal and Constitutional aspects of the abrogation of Article 370 and restructuring of Jammu and Kashmir Shah said, “This House has witnessed several historic moments and I can say with pride that this bill is here to create history.”

India has always stated it loud and clear that the areas of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) have always been an integral part of the country. The atrocities led on the people of Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, Sindh have been highlighted on the international platform since a very long time. India has also stated that Pakistan Government or judiciary have no locus standi on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it. Any action to alter the status of these occupied territories by Pakistan has no legal basis whatsoever.

Gilgit Baltistan is a part of Jammu and Kashmir annexed by Pakistan in 1947 but the status of the area though disputed has been kept ambiguous by Pakistan. Off lately, the people there have witnessed regular protests by activists over alleged human rights violations by the Pakistani authorities in the region.
