New Delhi, Sept 13: General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JuH) Maulana Mehmood Madani has endorsed the view of the Narendra Modi government on abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and also the controversial National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

Maulana Madani’s comments came days after another senior Muslim cleric Maulana Arshad Madani had a important meeting with RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat in the national capital.

The JuH leader said that it has been our national duty to protect the human rights of Kashmiri people and democracy. His comments came at the meeting of the Jamiat-Ulema-e- Hind on Thursday. The JuH meeting has passed a unanimous resolution reiterating that Kashmir was, is and will remain an inseparable and integral part of India; the people of Jammu and Kashmir are very much Indians and are not separate from rest of the people in any way.

The resolution which was adopted in JuH’s annual general meeting, also attacked Pakistan, saying that inimical forces and the “neighboring country” are bent on destroying Kashmir by using the people as a shield. “…it is our firm belief that welfare of Kashmir lies in getting integrated with India,” JuH said.

Madani said: “Kashmir was, is ours and will remain so in future. We are where India is. We will not compromise in any way with the safety and integrity of India/ India is our country and we are ready to defend it always. Any separatist agitation is dangerous not only for Kashmir but also for the entire country. The resolution also deplored Pakistan for projecting falsehood at the global level that Indian Muslims were against their own country. We strongly deplore such attitude and propaganda”.

The JuH said: “We feel that protecting the human rights of Kashmiri people and democracy is our national duty. Still we believe that their development and welfare is firmly assured with their association with India notwithstanding the negative propaganda of some anti-social and criminal elements. The JuH also blamed Pakistan for unrest.

Emphasising that it can never support any separatist movement, JuH said,”… it considers such movements not only harmful for India but also for the people of Kashmir.”

No problem with NRC: Replying to a question on National Register of Citizens (NRC) being applied to entire country, Maulana Madani said that he had no problem with the NRC. In fact, it should be made applicable to the entire nation to identify the illegal immigrants. “I have no objection to it”.
