Relationship beyond buyer-seller! India and Qatar discuss strengthening of co-operation in energy sector

Doha, September 13: On his visionary visit to Gulf nations, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday met Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al Kaabi to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation in the hydrocarbon sector.

 
In a fruitful discussion, both nations discussed deep hopes on continued and meaningful cooperation. The Minister conveyed India’s strong desire to advance the hydrocarbons engagement from a buyer-seller one to a more comprehensive one with focus on investments in India’s growing gas infrastructure and also participation of Indian companies in the oil and gas sector in Qatar. Both nations also discussed to collaborate to develop an energy efficient environment to transform India into a gas-based economy.
 
Recalling strong historical ties with India, Qatari PM recounted the important role of the Indian community in Qatar. HE conveyed his desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse areas particularly in the hydrocarbon sector.
The Petroleum Minister met with HE Yury P. Sentyurin, Secretary General of GECF News and discussed the trends in global gas markets and energy transition. He also explored collaboration with GECF for undertaking more studies on gas market in India.
 
The Petroleum Minister Elaborated upon the attractiveness of the Indian E&P sector as an investment destination due to Ease-of-Doing Business and transformative policy reforms under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. He also interacted with CEOs and captains of leading oil and gas companies based in Qatar at a business event organized by Indian Ambassador P. Kumaran. OFI is an association of Indians who are working to strengthen the idea of ‘One India’ and spreading oneness amongst Indians in Qatar irrespective of caste, creed, race and colour.
 
Dharmendra Pradhan had a wonderful meeting the Utkalika family, a group of Odias working to make Indians feel at home in Qatar and keep the Odia traditions alive for the brothers and sisters who have shifted to Qatar from Odisha.
PM Sheikh Abdullah congratulated PM Narendra Modi on his resounding victory.
