Replacing Sathasivam, noted scholar, critic of Islamic Fundamentalism Arif Mohammad Khan takes over as Kerala Governor

Thiruvananthpuram, September 06: Having been appointed as the Governor of Kerela on September 01, Former Union Minister Arif Mohommad Khan this morning took the charge of the said position by the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court who likely administered the oath of office.

 
 
Khan replaced Justice (Retd) Palanisamy Sathasivam who was appointed as governor of the state in September 2014. Post appointment, Khan had said that his role will be to ensure that democratically elected government in the state functions in accordance with the provisions of the constitution.
 
 
He had in past voiced his support for many decisions of the BJP government and including the Triple Talaq bill. He also had resigned from his ministerial position after the then government decided to overturn the Supreme Court judgment in the Shah Bano case by bringing legislation in the Parliament.
 
Khan meanwhile left the Congress party in 1986 over Muslim Personal Law Bill and triple talaq legislation. Now he remains actively involved in writing articles and columns related to Islam and Sufism.
