Powering kitchens, empowering women, LPG penetration in India jumps to over 96% easing 8 cr 'Ujjwala Parivaar'

New Delhi, September 07: The push for clean energy through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has led to a record 41 per cent of new liquified petroleum gas connections being added in the current fiscal year 2019, a jump 55 per cent in year 2014.

 
The Indian oil corporation on Satuurday revealed the glorifying status, lauding the Modi government for this massive development. The three oil marketing companies, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, had together set a target of adding 42.5 million customers by the end of March 31 this year.
There were around 148 million LPG consumers in India on March 31, 2015. The number has increased to about 96 per cent to now, of the five regions, the northern region having the highest share in total LPG consumption of 32.8 per cent.
