Appearances, be deceptive! Delhi Police reveals JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, 8 others involved in JNU violence

New Delhi, January 10: While the JNU students wore a fake magnet attracting sympathies from all over the country, specially the Bollywood, for the violent attack on them, the Delhi Police on Friday revealed that JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh and other members of Left-wing students organisations were mainly involved in the JNU violence on Sunday.

 

 

Addressing a press conference, DCP Joy Tirkey said that the police identified some students who were involved in the violence. The police have disclosed names of nine people and released their photographs. "Unfortunately the CCTV footages were not available to us as the server room was vandalised a day before.

 

We have identified some people based on viral videos and other investigations," Joy Tirkey said. Earlier in a special interview to the Time Now news channel, a set of JNU students had yesterday accepted to have blocked the servers and turned off the internet, Wifi themselves.  

 

DCP Tirkey also affirmed that the police have not detained anyone so far. "We will serve notices to the identified people and ask them about their presence during the violence". He however said more names may be revealed in subsequent press conferences as investigation proceeds. According to the police, most of them are members of Left-wing students' organisations. Delhi Police PRO, MS Randhawa said, "The investigation regarding the criminal cases filed in connection with the JNU violence incident is being carried out by the Crime Branch. But it has been observed that a lot of misinformation related to these cases is being circulated."
