Bridging gap between police and public, Tripura to recruit 1100 Gram Sevaks

Agartala, January 10: Bridging the gap between police and public, the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb asserted that the state government has decided to recruit 1,100-gram sevaks. He also said that the present government has given a free hand to the police which has made it easier for them in taking action in time and the crime rate in the state has also decreased.

 

Speaking during the Police Week Parade- 2020 in AD Nagar Police Lane, Deb said that in order to maintain the law and order situation and to build a good relationship between the public, police and authorities, the state government has decided to recruit gram sevaks. “A total of 1,100-gram sevaks will be recruited soon in the state. This initiative is to build the gap between the state and public, particularly to maintain law and order in the village areas. The gram sevaks will inform the police authority about the daily incidents happening in their respective villages,” Deb said.

“The police earlier had to face difficulties to work because of the pressure and political interest of the previous government. Now, the police can work freely and the law and order situation has also improved across the state. The police now work faster and the charge sheets are also placed in time. This shows the development of the state,” Deb added.

Providing the statistics of the total number of cases registered during the last 20 months of the state government, Deb said a total of 987 cases were registered and 4,992 persons were arrested by the police during the investigation.

Tripura Police Week will be observed for the next six days. On the first day of the ceremony, the chief minister took salute from 10 March pass contingents of Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles and Tripura Traffic Police. Best policemen awards and trophies’ were also distributed under different categories during the ceremony. Later in the evening, the chief minister inaugurated the newly build Tripura Police galley in the state museum in the evening on the occasion of the police week.
