Kannauj: Nearly 20 people killed after a fierce fire broke out in bus after collision with truck; PM expresses sorrow

Kannauj, January 11: A sleeper bus going from Gursahaiganj to Jaipur collided with the truck on GT Road on Friday. The accident was so severe that the diesel tank of the truck exploded. This caused both the truck and the bus to catch fire. The passengers stuck in the sleeper bus could not get a chance to leave. Nearly 20 passengers are feared to have lost lives in the accident. 22 passengers have been admitted to the district hospital. The Chief Minister has instructed the top officials to reach the spot.

CM Yogi Adityanath in his tweet said that Kannauj district is horrified by the news of the death of people in a horrific and very painful accident. I pray to Lord Rama for the peace of the souls of the departed and wish for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. My condolences to the bereaved family.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to a road accident in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. He said, “It is very sad to know about the horrific road accident in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Many people have lost their lives in this accident. I express my condolences to the kin of the dead, as well as wish the injured well soon.”

 

The sleeper bus of Vimal Chaturvedi Bus Service left from Gursahaiganj in Kannauj to Jaipur at around eight o'clock on Friday night. It is said that 12 passengers were seated in the bus from Gursahaiganj. Further, many riders also sat in Chhibramau. The total number of passengers in the bus is said to be around 35. Some of these travelers were going to visit Balaji and some were going to Jaipur in search of employment. However, no official information has been given about how many passengers were in the bus.
