Indresh Kumar addressing the Ulema Conference in New Delhi on Thursday
According to sources, a group of 8-9 persons entered the Constitution Club auditorium where the said conference was to be addressed by Indresh Kumar, senior RSS pracharak and member of RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) and Patron and Guide of the MRM. Hundreds of Ulemas, religious leaders, intellectuals and common people were present in the auditorium.
As soon as Indresh Kumar entered the hall along with other dignitaries, these people who were already seated in the front row got up and started shouting slogans and displaying placards opposing CAA and NRC. They even tried to target Indresh Kumar who was going to the dias, sources said.
The MRM Ulema Cell had organised the Ulema Conferencce in support of the CAA at the Constitution Club here on Jan 16. Hundreds of ulemas, intellectuals and other Muslims had gathered to listen to Indresh Kumar on this hot topic. This was probably the first such conference held to create awareness among the ulemas and intellectuals about the CAA so that they can convey the proper message to Muslim community. Indresh Kumar was the chief speaker in this conference.

The police and MRM activists soon controlled them and evicted them from the hall. Some of them were taken to Sansad Marg Police Station for interrogation.
Later Indresh Kumar addressed rhe gathering for over an hour explaining the details of CAA and NRC. He said that the CAA was not against the Indian citizens including Muslims and they need not worry about their future.
The organisers have claimed and alleged that Indresh kumar was the target of these anti-social elements. They alleged that this was a sponsored attack and was planned by the Congress and other parties, demanding a thorough inquiry into the incident.

In his address Indresh Kumar said that the CAA was not made to strip any genuine Indian citizen of his citizenship. It aims at giving citizenship to those persecuted minority persons coming from neighbouring countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, he added.
He further said that Indians are living in 137 countries of the world. They are citizens of those countries and Muslims also live in various lands. They love the national anthem, flag and laws of the land. There they do not have any problem then why here in India, he asked.
Addressing the gathering VHP Working President Alok Kumar said that in view of the impending Delhi Assembly elections, the opposition to CAA is being made more vocal. He blamed the Congress and AAP for these disruptions on CAA and alleged that they were spreading rumours and misleading the people on CAA.
Adv Shaheen Pervez, national convener of MRM Women's Cell, who was present at the venue, said that as soon as Indresh Kumar entered the auditorium these elements who were already seated in the front row, got to their feet and started raising slogans and displaying placards. She raised a very pertinent question as to how these people could get entry into the hall and occupy the front row. This reflects on a lax security arrangements, she said.
Dr Shahid Akhtar, National Convener of MRM who was also present corroborated the facts and demanded probe into the event. Condemning the attack he said that this was a serious incident and a deliberately planned attempt to disrupt the MRM event.

Prominent among those who attended the conference included Maulana Suhaib Qasmi, President of Jamat Ulema, Maulana Irfan, Maulana Koukab Mujtaba, Kari Mujib from Meerut, Maulana Jalil Chisti from Bijnour, Maulana Ahmed Hassam from Mumbai, and Maulana Nurulullah from Bhopal. Muslim clergy from other states were also present.
