New Delhi, Jan 18: Senior RSS functionary and Patron and Guide of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kumar said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was introduced not to deprive anyone of his citizenship but to grant citizenship of India to those refugees. This Act will not create hurdle in granting citizenship to anyone, he added.

The Modi Government has passed the CAA to grant citizenship to the religious minority communities coming to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. There has been widespread opposition to this act by the Congress and other opposition parties.

Indresh Kumar was speaking at the Ulema Conference organised by MRM at Constitution Club on Thursday. The conference was organised to create awareness among the Muslim clergy about the CAA. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Working President Alok Kumar, Shia Maulana Koukab Mujtba, President of Jamat Ulema Maulana Shoeab Qasmi and others were prominently present.

This conference was attended by Muslim religious leaders, intellectuals and Muslim women from various states.

Indresh Kumar said that the opposition to CAA and demonstrations against this law were politically motivated. The CAA was long overdue but no political party dared to implement it. Narendra Modi Government showed the courage to bring this amendment, he said.

He further said that the MRM was conducting awareness campaign and held meetings at 2000 places in the country. He said that Indians are living in 137 countries of the world and became citizens of those countries under certain rules. No one welcomes infiltrators in his home and country. Mosque can be common but home can't be. Muslims too live in many countries and honour the national flag, anthem and laws of those countries. They do not have any problem. Then why they are not at ease in India? What difficulties they are facing here?

VHP working president Alok Kumar in his address alleged that the opposition to CAA was done at the behest of the Congress and Aam Aadami Party in view of the impending Delhi Assembly elections. Through these demonstrations both the parties are trying to polarize the voters on communal lines. People are being misled by the leaders of these parties on the CAA and NRC by presenting what is not mentioned in the act.
