Land of Karnataka becomes witness to another historic achievement: PM presents Krishi Karman Awards

Bangalore, January 2: "It’s a fortunate moment for me to be with my farmer brothers and sisters in the beginning of the new year. With the prestigious Krishi Karman Awards, the land of Karnataka has become a witness to another historic achievement," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi today while presenting Krishi Karman Awards and Commendation Awards to states at a public meeting in Tumkur, Karnataka. The Prime Minister gave away awards to 28 progressive farmers from 21 states.

The event also witnessed the release of the third installment of PM Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) of 2000 rupees for the period December 2019 to March 2020.
 
The PM also handed over Certificates to beneficiaries under PM Kisan from eight States and Union territories. The instalment is given to provide an assured income support to the small and marginal farmers. Under the scheme, 6000 rupees per year are given to farmers in three equal instalments of 2000 rupees each.
 
 
 
At the same event, the PM handovered the Keys of Deep Sea fishing Vessels and Fishing Vessel Transponders to select farmers of Tamil Nadu. He also distributed Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to select farmers of Karnataka.
 
Speaking at the occasion, PM Modi touched all aspects of govt’s initiatives to empower farmers ranging from pulses, cereals, horticulture, fisheries, oil and so on. “In 2022, India will complete 75 years of independence. Fulfillment of our determinations by then will be the real tribute to our nation builders. By doubling farmers income, India will go ahead with new spirit,” said PM Modi. 
 
 
 
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Gadduge of 111 year old seer of Siddaganga Matt, where the late Shivakumar Swamiji is laid to rest in Tumkuru. He also planted a sapling of Bilva patre near the gadduge and laid the foundation stone for a museum where the belongings of the late seer will be displayed. The PM also interacted with the students at the matt.
 
 
 
Prime Minister took part in the Karman award function at the Junior college ground in Tumkuru. Chief Minister of Karnataka, Manipur and Jharkhand and Governor of Uttarakhand were present on this occasion.
