After a decade, National Green Corps scheme revived in J&K

Srinagar, January 2: As a result of persistent efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board, the Environment Education, Awareness and Training (EEAT) scheme of Forest Ministry, for National Green Corps (Eco-Clubs) which was closed for over a decade has been revived for J&K. The J&K PCB put efforts for the revival of the scheme in the State Nodal Agency (SNA) meet organized by Forest Ministry in Kevadia Gujarat.

Consequent to that, the Environment and Forests Ministry has approved the release of Grant-in-Aid of Rs 2.6 crore to J&K PCB.

Under this scheme, the JK PCB shall provide financial assistance to 3742 number of Eco Clubs of registered schools in both the regions of J&K along with 96 Eco-Clubs for registered Colleges, for which the funds shall be released by the Direct Bank Transfer by the Board shortly.

Recently, N Murali Mohan, the Joint Chief Environmental Scientist at Telangana State Pollution Control Board and Director of Telangana State National Green Corps, received appreciation certificate given to TSPCB from Arvind Nautiyal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change ( MoEF&CC), for outstanding contribution towards successful implementation of National Green Crops ( NGC) Eco-clubs in Telangana State, at a function held at Kewadia (Gujarat) on December 21.
