"While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she didn’t not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against the death penalty", Indira Jaising

"She should be kept in jail along with the convicts. How can these women pity the convicts. It is these kind of women who give birth to such monsters", Kangana Ranaut reacting to Jaising's statement

New Delhi, January 23: She suffered, fought fearlessly, though died, and now is suffering even after eight years of the menacing incident she faced. The rapists of Nirbhaya were supposed to be hanged on 22nd of January but were not and are again unlikely to be hanged by February 1, 2020. This is after the Supreme Court judgments pronounced in 1982 and 2014, when read collectively, saying that none of the four death row convicts in Nirbhaya case could be hanged before the last one has exhausted all legal options including the mercy plea. "There must be a difference of 14 days between rejection of mercy plea and hanging", the bench noted.

This came as a shock to Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi who urged politicians to look into the matter from a serious viewpoint and stop playing politics in the case. Following this Senior lawyer Indira Jaising from nowhere urged Nirbhaya’s mother to forgive Nirbhaya's convicts like Sonia Gandhi forgave her husband's killer.
She wrote on Twitter, "While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she didn’t not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against the death penalty". How can a lady not feel the seriousness of the happening is the fact to wonder here. Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile busy with the promotions of her upcoming film Panga rightly escaped no chance to corner Jaising for her blatant statement.
The actress though never shies away from sharing her opinion on various subjects, she demanded that the convicts of the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and muder case should be hanged publicly. "A person who has committed such a gruesome crime should not be considered a minor. He should be hanged publicly to set an example. Nirbhaya's parents are fighting this battle for a long time. Killing the convict quietly will be of no use as you won't be able to set an example."

Further reacting to Jaising's statement, Kangana said, "She should be kept in jail along with the convicts. How can these women pity the convicts. It is these kind of women who give birth to such monsters". Women safety in India has always been, and still is a matter to look through serious lenses. In spite of laws and regulations implemented in the country that tend to protect women from such henios incidents, the happenings don't seem to cease, Priyanka Reddy case being the very recent example. And then there are these people like Jaising who tend to support the criminals! India is far away from being one ideal nation!
