Sandalwood has a special significance in the worship at the Badri-Kedar temple. The two dhams consume about two quintals of sandalwood and sandalwood per year. For some time, the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee was having difficulty in raising sandalwood.

Sandalwood was not available as per the required quality. When Mukesh Ambani came to Badrinath Dham in the last travel season, he asked the committee to find a place to prepare Chandan Vatika in Karnataka.

He proposed to name it Badrish Dhirubhai Ambani Chandan Vatika. Due to this, Mohan Prasad Thapliyal, President of Badrinath Temple Committee, Chief Executive BD Singh and Executive Engineer Anil Dhyani reached Karnataka to find land.

After seeing the land at many places, the land adjoining the National Highway in Shikarpur, Tehsil of Simoga district of Karnataka, was seen. This land spread over four acres has 2400 sandalwood plants. When the committee talked to the owner of the land, they accepted it with pleasure.

The chairman of the temple committee, Mohan Prasad Thapliyal, told that the owner of the land is Mahalingeshwar. He will give this land adjoining the highway at a circle rate. Soon its proposal will be sent to famous industrialist Mukesh Ambani. After buying that land, he got his father's self. Dhiru will donate to Badrinath-Kedarnath temple in the name of Bhai Ambani.
