Bhopal, January 06: Aiming to dispell the misinformation spread by the oppositions against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Bharatiya janata Party in Madhya Pradesh drummed up a support campaign on Sunday. Since the launch of CAA a month ago, the opposition parties including the Congress, AAP and more, have been misleading the masses over the proposed changes, adding that the amendment would harm Indian Muslims and that it was against the Muslim community.

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said at a meeting in Morena district that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ushered in rapid development in the country, and the Congress was resorting to protests against the CAA because it has no other issue left.
Launching a door-to-door campaign at Arera Colony in Bhopal, state BJP chief Rakesh Singh said the Congress and the entire opposition was spreading misinformation against the CAA. In Indore, veteran BJP leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and MP BJP organizational general secretary Suhas Bhagat took part in the campaign.
Also, Leader of Opposition in the MP Assembly Gopal Bhargava met Muslim families in Garhakota Bazar area. The Congress was spreading lies that the law was against Muslims, but the CAA does not mention Indian Muslims, he said. CAA categorically addresses concerns of minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan & Bangladesh. Members of the majority community in these countries who want to apply for Indian Citizenship will still be able to, as per the existing provisions of Indian Citizenship.

CAA empowers persecuted minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan & Bangladesh by giving Indian citizenship. It applies to those who have migrated before December 31, 2014, on establishing their residency in India for five years. The CAA does not change any existing legal provision which allows any foreign national to apply for Indian Citizenship through registration or naturalization.
