Puri, Jan 6: The Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth, Puri, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati Maharaj has urged the United Nations to declare India, Bhutan and Nepal as ‘Hindu Rashtra’.

Puri Seer’s suggestion comes against the background of the ongoing violent stirs and debate and unrest over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Talking to reporters the Puri Pontiff asserted that among the 204 nations in the world many were declared as Muslim and Christian countries.

“At present there is no Hindu Nation. Hence it is the responsibility of the United Nations to declare India, Nepal and Bhutan as Hindu Nations in the first phase”, the Shankaracharya said.

The Puri Seer also wanted the UN to ensure rehabilitation of persecuted Hindus from other countries in these three nations as they have no other country to go.

“The United Nations should come up with special facility to provide justice. Even if any Muslim feels neglected in any other country and wants to leave the particular nation, he/she should be rehabilitated in any of the Muslim nations,” the Puri Seer said.

On CAA, Puri Shankaracharya said, “The present violence and unrest could have been avoided if adequate steps were taken for proper consultations, discussions and awareness before enactment.”
