New Delhi, January 8: India has asked its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iraq until further notification in view of the prevailing situation in the Gulf country. In a travel advisory, the External Affairs Ministry said, Indian nationals residing in Iraq are advised to be and may avoid travel within Iraq.
The Ministry said Indian Embassy in Baghdad and Consulate in Erbil will continue to function normally to provide all services to Indians residing in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Iran has claimed that 80 US army personnel have been killed and about 200 injured in missile attacks launched by Iranian Revolutionary Guards at American bases in Iraq.

Quoting Revolutionary Guards sources, Fars news agency said that some 20 sensitive points of the military base were struck by fifteen missiles early this morning.
White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said that the White House is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with the national security team.
