There are several Uighurs living in Australia, who have left China due to the oppressive rule. However, even after leaving the country they don't feel safe as the Chinese terror has followed them to Australia and has been haunting their lives. They have their families or relative back in China who are suffering the draconian Chinese rule but the individuals in Australia are not allowed to raise voice against Chinese oppression. On doing so, Chinese government threatens these individuals in various ways, including harassment of families and relatives back in China.

The representatives of the Uighur community have thus sought for help from the Australian government to take strict actions against the Chinese oppression on individuals living in Australian land and not China. The representatives have demanded for a parliamentary inquiry regarding such violation of human rights and introduction of Magnitsky - style laws to deal with it. The laws are already implemented in Russia, UK, Canada. Introducing such laws to deal with human rights violation by China in Australia will lawfully give Australian government the authority to interfere in such matters.

The estimated number of Uighurs living in Australia is around 5000 and the government is not at all ignoring the demands of the community. A parliamentary committee is already working in progress to solve the safety concerns of the Uighur Community. The national policies of Australia have largely inclined against China. In such conditions, the Uighurs demanding for a fundamental change in the parliamentary approach to deal with Chinese aggression is a significant event.
