Rajnath Singh dedicates 44 bridges to nation built by BRO

New Delhi, Oct 12: Bringing strategical development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated 44 bridges to the nation made by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across seven States/Union Territories via video-conferencing on Monday. He also laid the foundation stone for Nechiphu Tunnel on road to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

These bridges are built in border areas of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. "Extremely happy to dedicate 44 major permanent bridges to the Nation today. The Foundation Stone for Nechiphu Tunnel was also laid on this occasion in Arunachal Pradesh.These border infrastructure projects are of strategic importance and provide connectivity to remote areas," Rajnath Singh said.
 
 
The Minister congratulated DG Border Roads Organisation and his team for doing exemplary work in challenging times. "Inauguration of 44 bridges in one go in itself is a significant achievement. Despite facing the challenges posed by the Pandemic and the situation at the borders India has been resolute in its response. The nation has also been successful in completing its infrastructure projects under the inspiring leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi," he said.
 
 
Further, Rajnath Singh added that due to these 44 bridges, connectivity will be improved in the far-flung areas of Western, Northern, and North East sectors and fulfill the aspirations of local people. They would also meet the transport and logistics requirements of the armed forces throughout the year, he said.
 
 
Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, Army chief MM Naravane and MoS Jitendra Singh were present on the occasion. Last week, the Defence Minister had said that the strategically important Atal Tunnel is dedicated to the armed forces protecting India's borders and those living in the remote terrains.
