China again claims it does not recognize Ladakh, Arunachal

Beijing, Oct 14: In yet another useless claim, China has stated that it does not recognize the so-called "Ladakh Union Territory" illegally set up by India after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 44 new bridges including 8 in Ladakh.

 

 

 

 

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian when asked about views on the inauguration of these bridges, he stated, "First, China doesn't recognize the so-called 'Ladakh Union Territory' illegally set up by India or the "Arunachal Pradesh", and opposes infrastructure building aimed at military contention in disputed border areas."

 

Further, he also claimed that infrastructure development has been the root cause for the tension between the two sides. "The Indian side has been stepping up infrastructure building and military deployment along the border with China. This is the root cause of tensions. We urge the Indian side to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the two sides, refrain from taking actions that will complicate the situation, and take concrete measures to safeguard peace and tranquility along the border," he said.

 

Singh on Monday while inaugurating the bridges, he had said, "First Pakistan, and now China, it appears disputes are being created by them as part of a mission. We share around seven thousand kilometers of border with these countries. The country, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is not only facing the crisis with determination but is also bringing big and historic changes in many fields."

 

Last month, India rebutting China's statements on its position on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the India-China border area, it had asserted that it has never accepted "the so-called unilaterally defined 1959 Line of Actual Control" adding that the county's position has been consistent and well known to all including China.
