TN CM announces Rs 10 crore aid to flood-hit Telangana

Chennai, October 20: Extending support to flood-hit Telangana, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a financial support package of Rs 10 crore, from the TN Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to Telangana who is facing irreversible damages by the unprecedented rains received in a single week. The Tamil Nadu government is also sending blankets and mats to the flood victims.

In a letter to his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he said that he has ordered an immediate contribution of Rs 10 crore from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund as a token of support. He wrote the heavy rains and unprecedented floods in the city of Hyderabad and in certain districts of Telangana have extensive damage to property and have taken a toll of lives.
 
"At this difficult time, on behalf of the state government and the people of Tamil Nadu, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family members of all those who have lost their lives in the rains and floods. As a token of support and solidarity of the government of people of Tamil Nadu with the people of Telangana, I have ordered an immediate contribution of a sum of Rs 10 crore from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
 
"We are also sending blankets and mats as relief materials to the affected families. I also assure you that the government of Tamil Nadu stands ready to render any assistance as may be required by the government of Telangana," he added.
 
Moreover, Chandrasekhar Rao thanked Palaniswami for announcing Rs 10 crore aid to the state, which suffered huge losses due to heavy rains and floods. The CM also thanked his Tamil Nadu counterpart for planning to send blankets, quilts, etc.

The city alone has suffered damage of around Rs 670 Crore said Minister for Municipal Administration K.T Rama Rao. A total of 37,409 families were affected in various localities that were inundated in the city due to the recent floods and ration kits and blankets were being distributed among them, a release from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said. The rain Telangana has claimed 70 lives, including 33 in Greater Hyderabad.
 
Telangana government has decided to extend Rs 10,000 help to each affected poor household in low-lying areas. K Chandrasekhar Rao, the CM of Telangana, had also requested the industrialists, business establishments, and individuals to extend help to people who have suffered due to heavy floods and rains
