Abu Dhabi, Oct 22: Seamer Mohammad Siraj starred with the ball as Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders during the 39th Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Wednesday. He picked up three wickets in his first two overs and bowled two maiden overs, restricting KKR to 14 for 4 before the end of the first powerplay.

His performance in the match was so magical that his name will now be in the records and will be difficult to break for any bowler. He certainly became the first-ever bowler in the IPL history to claim two maiden overs. The RCB franchise took to their social media account to announce this feat. In a tweet, they wrote, “He’s bowled 12 deliveries, picked 3 wickets, and is yet to concede a run off the bat!”

RCB skipper Kohli surprisingly told Siraj to bowl the 2nd over and he was handed the new ball. It seemed like he was very much comfortable with the new ball as he removed opener, Rahul Tripathi, on the third ball and then bowled out Nitish Rana off the very next delivery. The overturned out to be a double wicket-maiden as KKR were reduced to 3/2.

In his next over, he bowled a good length ball to Tom Banton (10) and got him caught by AB de Villiers. Once again, he didn’t let the batsmen score a run against him and thus, owned the record to bowl two maiden overs in IPL history.

Opting to bat first, RCB bowlers went all guns blazing and restricted KKR to 84/7 - the lowest target set up by any team in this year's IPL. On the other hand, RCB successfully chased the small target with Devdutt Paddikal and Gurkeerat Singh Mann scoring the highest runs.

Brief Scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore 85/2 (Devdutt Padikkal 25, Gurkeerat Singh Mann 21; Lockie Ferguson 1/17) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 84/8 (Eoin Morgan 30, Lockie Ferguson 19*; Mohammed Siraj 3/8) by eight wickets
