Cricket legend Kapil Dev suffers heart scare, undergoes angioplasty surgery

New Delhi, Oct 23: Legendary Indian cricketer and captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning side Kapil Dev suffered a heart attack and has undergone angioplasty at a hospital in New Delhi.

Kapil Dev, 61, has been admitted at Fortis Escorts in Okhala Road, New Delhi. An official statement from the hospital said that he is "stable now" and could be discharged in a couple of days' time.
 
"Former Indian Cricket captain Mr. Kapil Dev, age 62 years, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed by Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of the night," it said.
 
 
Further, it added, "Currently, he has admitted in ICU and under the close supervision of Dr. Atul Mathur and his team. Mr. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days," said the statement.
