Govt committed to further empower PRIs in J&K!

Srinagar, October 06: Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan said that Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) act as the building blocks of overall development and the government is committed to further empower PRIs in Jammu and Kashmir. He made these remarks while speaking at separate Back to Village -3 programmes at Naidkhai and Asham Panchayat Halqas of Bandipora district today.

He said that Panchayats are being empowered as never before and the government is committed to further empower Panchayat Raj Institutions so that the rural scene in entire Jammu and Kashmir will change for good.
 
Advisor Khan further observed that Back to Village flagship programme has helped people to know about their rights with respect to governance and delivery.
 
PRI representatives and locals present on the occasion raised several issues and public demands pertaining to drinking water facility, augmentation of power sector in their respective areas, playing fields for youth and children besides issues of road widening and macadamization of interior roads in their respective areas.
