Munirathna won by a margin of 57,672 votes, defeating Congress candidate H Kusuma and JD-S candidate V Krishnamurthy while in Sira constituency BJP's Dr. C M Rajesh Gowda won the elections by 12,949 votes against Congress candidate T B Jayachandra who ended up polling 61,573 votes. The Janata Dal-Secular nominee Ammajamma was at a distant third polling 35,982 votes.

By winning the RR Nagar constituency for the third time, Munirathna beat his record from the last election when he contested as a Congress candidate. The by-poll in Sira was necessitated following the passing of JD(S) MLA B Sathyanarayana in August. In RR Nagar, the seat was vacated when then Congress MLA N Munirathna was ousted in 2019 under the anti-defection law

The bypoll for RR Nagar and sira were held on November 3, was necessitated after the seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of the then Congress MLA Munirathna under the anti-defection law.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Dr. C.M. Rajesh Gowda has maintained its lead over opposition JDS and Congress on Sira seat. The result for the same is expected to be out in a few hours from now. According to the Election commission, BJP candidate Dr. CM Rajesh Gowda was ahead by 11,760 votes to the Congress' TB Jayachandra. The JD(S), which won the seat in the 2018 Assembly elections, has severely underperformed with its candidate Ammajamma B having secured just 32,525 votes. Sira's turnout was far greater than RR Nagar's, at 82.31 percent.

Votes polled in the November 3 byelections to Sira in Tumakuru district and Rajarajeshwari Nagar (R R Nagar) in the city were taken up for counting at 8 am and the results are expected to be out in a few hours from now. RR Nagar recorded a low voter turnout of 45.24 percent, while Sira recorded a good voter turnout with 82.31 percent on November 3. The Election Commission stated that BJP seems to be leading in the RR Nagar and Sira Assembly seats of the state.

In Manipur, the BJP is leading on two out of five seats and has won one seat. In the Bihar assembly elections, the NDA appears to be pulling off a similar performance as it nears the majority mark.

The bypoll has been necessitated in Sira following the death of JD(S) MLA B Sathyanarayana in August, while R R Nagar seat here fell vacant due to disqualification of the then Congress MLA N Munirathna last year under the anti-defection law.
