SAI lodges FIR against fake advertising of Khelo India 2021

New Delhi, Nov 17: The Sports Authority of India has lodged an FIR to demand probe regarding the false advertisement for the Khelo India Youth Games, 2021, which are to be held in Haryana. The action was taken as a follow up of several complains recorded from the athletes to the sports authorities about fake advertising.

SAI has received several complaints from grassroot -level athletes from across the country regarding such fake advertisements and attempts to financial frauds. In an advertisement posted on social media platforms athletes have been asked to deposit Rs. 6000 in order to enroll for the Khelo India camp, to further participate in the Khelo India Games. The advertisement also uses the logos of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India and Khelo India, which misled several athletes to believe it to be a government advertisement.
 
The games are scheduled in Panchkula in Haryana in 2021. The SAI officials managed to get bank account details of the person responsible for the fraud while acting as an aspirant. The network was linked down to an individual who is a resident of Agra. The Sports Authority of India has lodged an FIR with the Uttar Pradesh police and asked for an immediate investigation of the issue.
 
The Authority has also requested the aspirants that Khelo India is a government scheme and athletes do not need to pay any money to participate in it.
