Mumbai, November 20: Bagging another big contract worth over ₹ 7,000 crores from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), Engineering and Infrastructure major conglomerate is going to construct 87.569 kilometers of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed bullet train corridor.
This project includes the construction of viaducts, one station, major river bridges, maintenance depots, and other auxiliary works. This particular
the package represents 17.2% of the total length, running elevated from the outskirts of Vadodara to the outskirts of Ahmedabad in the State of Gujarat with one station at Anand / Nadiad.
Taking about the project S N Subrahmanyan, CEO & Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro said, "This is yet another recognition of our capabilities to construct mega projects to speed and scale and we are grateful to the Government of India, Ministry of Railways, Indian Railway Board and NHSRCL for reposing faith in us to execute another huge package of this prestigious project.”

The 508-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The rail corridor will cover 155.76 kilometers in Maharashtra, 4.3 kilometers in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and 348.04 kilometers in Gujarat, with 12 stations along the route. The bullet train will operate at 320 km per hour, covering the entire distance in approximately two hours with limited stops, and in three hours with all stops. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the project in September 2017 along with then Japanese premier Shinzo Abe.
This project is expected to generate over 90,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction period.
It should be noted that L&T had already bagged NHSRCL's contract for the execution of the 237-km stretch of the bridge between Vapi and Vadodara under the mega-deal. This includes four elevated HSR stations - Vapi, Billimora, Surat, and Bharuch and one train depot in Surat.
