Srinagar, Nov 23 : Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh has informed that a 10 feet deep tunnel unearthed by BSF near International Border in J&K's Samba district, was possibly used by the four slain JeM militants who were killed in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza near Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar National highway.
DGP Dilbagh Singh, informed the media, after visiting the International Border where BSF had unearthed the tunnel, that after analyzing various factors, security agencies have come to the conclusion that the four JeM militants killed in the Nagrota encounter had infiltrated from Samba district. Singh also stated that the plans of Pakistan to disrupt peace stand exposed and our neighbour was trying to use new tricks to infiltrate militants of JeM and LeT into this side and also recruit new youth.
With the help of intelligence, it was informed to the forces that terrorists will attempt to intrude in Indian land hiding in an apple truck which resulted into a planned encounter at the Ban Toll Plaza near Nagrota on the northern most segment of NH 44. While the security forces were checking vehicles at the toll plaza, a group of terrorists opened fires on the forces and fled towards the forest area. After a systematic operation executed for a few hours, four terrorist were eliminated by the Indian army.
Further investigation of the infiltration brought up significant facts about the JeM-LeT attempt. It was known that the terrorists had planned a major incident on the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attack, which was busted by the forces. The investigation had also revealed that the involvement of JeM operational commander Kasim Jan, the principal accused in the 2016 Pathankot air base attack, in the plan. The recent update about the encounter is the tunnel used by them to infiltrate into India.
