London, Dec 14: UK PM Boris Johnson lauds 'incredible things' done by India in solar energy sector to tackle climate change.
The British Prime Minister mentioned about India's effort in his address to the Climate Ambition Summit this weekend. The summit was co-hosted by the UK to mark the fifth anniversary of the Paris climate agreement.
He announced that the UK was going ahead with a massive solar energy programme while stressing, "we can’t hope to follow the incredible things being done by India, Australia or Morocco."
During his address, PM Johnson shared a ten-point plan for ushering in a green industrial revolution in the UK and asserted that his administration was aiming to turn the nation into the Saudi Arabia of wind power generation.
In his speech to the virtual summit, which was earlier addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi among around 70 heads of state and government, the British Prime Minister reiterated the UK's pledge to radically cut dependence on fossil fuels.
