New Delhi, Dec 18: Bangladesh-Myanmar Joint Secretary in MEA Smita Pant said, the summit between PM Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, was very fruitful.

The Joint Secretary said that the joint inauguration of Chilahati-Haldibari rail link during the virtual summit is particularly important and that they accept the movement of goods to happen soon.
 
Pant said, as far as the movement of passenger traffic is concerned, modalities are under discussion. She also informed that PM Modi has accepted PM Sheikh Hasina's invitation to visit Bangladesh on March 26, 2021, to attend the independence day ceremony.
 
She informed that long standing issues like that of sharing of water of Teesta and other rivers and issues related to fisheries were discussed. Pant said, at the bilateral summit, both sides agreed and highlighted the need for safe, early, and sustainable repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine state back to Myanmar. She said, India also appreciates and understands the humanitarian burden being faced by Bangladesh while hosting more than 1 million displaced persons.
