Temporary suspension of flights to and from UK extended till Jan 7

New Delhi, Dec 30: Government has extended the temporary suspension of flights to and from the UK till Jan 7, 2021. The Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri has said that strictly regulated resumption will take place for which details will be announced shortly.
 
The Ministry of Civil Aviation had previously announced, “Considering the prevailing situation in the UK, the government of India has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India shall be temporarily suspended till Dec 31, 2020 (11.59 pm). This suspension will start from 11.59 pm, Dec 22, 2020.”

Since earlier, all flights originating from the UK to India were suspended till Dec 31, 2020, the Health Ministry has recommended the Ministry of Civil Aviation that the extension of the temporary suspension of flights originating from UK into India should be further extended till Jan 7, 2021.
 
This has been recommended based on the inputs received from the Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) headed by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) and the National Task Force jointly headed by DG, ICMR and Member (Health), NITI Aayog.
 
 
 
The Union Health Secretary has written to all the States to keep a strict vigil on all events that could prove to be potential super spreader events, and also to curb crowding in the wake of the New Year celebrations and various events associated with it as well as on-going winter season.
