PM Modi to perform 'Bhoomi Poojan' of new Parliament Building on Dec 10

New Delhi, December 07: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay the foundation stone and perform 'Bhoomi Pujan' for the new Parliament building on December 10, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said.

He added that the new building is being constructed keeping in mind the need of the next 100 years. He added that the new Parliament Building is being constructed for 971 crore rupees which will house more committee Rooms and political parties' offices than the existing parliament House.
 
"This will be one such temple of democracy of Atmnirbhar Bharat that will reflect the diversity of the nation," he said.
 
The new building, the loksabha chamber will have 888 seats while there will be 384 seats in the Rajya Sabha chamber. It will incorporate indigenous architecture from different parts of the country and showcase cultural diversity. More than 200 artists from various parts of the country will also work for the building.
 
The New Building is to be equipped with all modern Audio Visual communication facilities and Data network systems. Special care is being taken to ensure all environmental safeguards are followed, including minimal disturbance to Parliament sessions during construction work.
 
In September, Tata Projects Limited won the bid to construct the new Parliament building. It is part of the Central Vista project.
