New Delhi, February 24: Hours after the hundreds of artistes welcomed US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the airport with beautiful performances reflecting the rich culture of Uttar Pradesh, the duo accompanied with 18 other delegates reached the Taj Mahal, one of the world's seven wonders.

The architectural marvel is inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 is made of white Makrana marble and red sandstones, and renowned for its intricate inlay work on the stone surface. "The Taj Mahal inspires awe, a timeless testament to the rich and diverse beauty of Indian culture! Thank you India", US President Donald Trump wrote in the visitor's book of the historic monument.
"Our two national constitutions both begin with the same three beautiful words: “We the people.” That means that in America and India alike, we honor, respect, trust, empower, and fight for the citizens we proudly serve!". he tweeted. Meanwhile, the US President's visit to Agra and Taj generated huge excitement among local residents. Some shops even displayed their own banners, welcoming Trump to India. Trump and the First Lady spent about an hour at Taj to catch the sunset from the UNESCO heritage site, before heading to Delhi.
 
The last US president to visit the the Mughal-era wonder was Bill Clinton who had come to India in 2000. He had seen the Taj along with daughter Chelsea Clinton. In 1959, then US president David Dwight Eisenhower had visited Taj along with then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Post the Trumps' trip to Agra, they will then head to New Delhi, where they are staying at the Grand Presidential Suite or the Chanakya Suite of the ultra-luxe ITC Maurya on Sardar Patel Marg of the national capital.
