This is after the violence erupted in north-east Delhi over the anti-CAA protests on Sunday that claimed 20 lives and injured 250 by Wednesday. In order to control the communal violence, NSA Doval was called upon to grip in the siuation officially. He will be briefing the situation to PM Modi and MHA Shah in a meeting scheduled today.

As per the initial reports, NSA visited Jafrabad, Seelampur and other parts of north-east Delhi where he held deep discourse with the Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and IPS officer SN Srivastava. Stating about the violence, NSA firmly stated, "The lawlessness would not be allowed to remain in the national capital. An adequate number of police forces and paramilitary forces have been deployed. The police have been given a free hand to bring the situation under control".

Earlier, in a midnight hearing, the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi Police to ensure safe passage and emergency treatment for those injured in the violence (number counts more than 250). The Delhi Police have put barricades and sealed all the roads that lead to Ghaziabad from northeast Delhi. The schools will also be closed in violence-affected north-east Delhi as ordered by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. It has also led to the postponement of CBSE board exams to be held in affected areas on Wednesday.
