Delhi violence: MHA Shah takes stock of situation; PM Modi urges people to maintain peace and harmony

New Delhi, February 27: MHA Amit Shah on Wednesday held high level meeting to review law and order situation in capital Delhi which was also attended by Delhi LG Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This is after the death toll reached to 7 amidst fresh violence in some areas of North East Delhi.

While Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik, Congress leader Subhash Chopra, BJP's Manoj Tiwari and Ramvir Bidhuri attended the meeting, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director of Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar were also present.
 
PM Modi meanwhile urged people to maintain peace and harmony in Delhi. Taking to twitter, he said, "Peace and harmony are central to our ethos. I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest".
 
"Had an extensive review on the situation prevailing in various parts of Delhi. Police and other agencies are working on the ground to ensure peace and normalcy", he added. The earlier day, PM Modi met US President Donald Trump who was on a maiden visit to India.
 
Trump, when asked about the CAA, said that it was completely India's decision and and that he did not discuss the issue with PM Modi. "We did talk about religious freedom. PM Modi said he wants people to have religious freedom. They have worked really hard on it. I heard about the individual attacks but I did not discuss it. It is up to India", he said.
