A 1985-batch AGMUT cadre officer, SN Shrivastava was transferred from the CRPF to the Delhi Police this week in the wake of deadly communal violence in the capital territory's northeast. He has worked in the city's police force in the past. He had earlier been tipped to take over from Amulya Patnaik, whose extended tenure ends on February 29.

SN Shrivastava blew the lid on fixing in the IPL and masterminded an operation to arrest the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, a man behind multiple bomb blasts across India. But he has been mired in controversy too. He faced criticism in the Liaquat Shah case when the NIA recommended departmental action against four to five Special Cell officials for allegedly fabricating terror charges against Shah.

SN Shrivastava was appointed as Special CP of the Delhi Police on Tuesday. Shrivastava was serving as the DG (Training) in Central Reserve Police Force. Shrivastava is scheduled to retire in June next year.
