This was one of the rare occasions that the Prime Minister spoke before the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha. Modi said that the Uttar Pradesh State Government has agreed to provide five-acre land to the Sunni Central Wakf Board for construction of the mosque as per the verdict of the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister said that he was making an important and historical announcement which would reverberate with the heart feelings of crores of countrymen including him on the issue which is most dear to them.

The announcement is related to the construction of the magnificent temple at the birthplace of Sri Rama in Ayodhya, the PM said.

He recalled how he felt extremely happy and blessed when he heard about the verdict of the Supreme Court on Ayodhya issue on November 9, 2019, while he was in Punjab for inauguration and dedication of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.

In compliance with the Supreme Court verdict, the Union Cabinet met this morning and decided to constitute a trust in the name and style of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the construction of a grant temple at the birthplace of Sri Rama. This trust will be totally independent to take decisions and implement them to facilitate the construction of the grand temple.

The Prime Minister said that the government has decided to hand over the 67.703-acre land acquired in Ayodhya to the trust for the temple.

Congratulating the countrymen for the magnanimity and composure they exhibited during the Supreme Court verdict Prime Minister Modi said that we are all members of an extended family and with this understanding, the government has been working with the ‘Sab ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas and Sab ka Vikas’ principle and appealed to all to support this decision in one voice.
