Pune, March 11: Three more people have been tested positive for the Corona virus in Pune yesterday after coming in contact with the couple who had been tested positive the day earlier. A press release issued by the State Health Department confirmed that samples of a man and a woman from Pune, who had been to Dubai recently, tested positive on Monday evening. Later, their daughter and the driver of the cab in which the family had traveled from the Mumbai airport to Pune also tested positive.

Apart from these two, a co-passenger who was on the same Dubai-Mumbai flight as the couple, has also tested positive. According to the releaee, all the five, three family members, the driver and the flight passenger are in isolation at the Naidu Hospital in Pune. Currently, 17 patients are in isolation in Pune, five positive cases and 12 suspected.
While the administration is now tracking a group of 40 persons who were with the couple on their trip to Dubai, these 40 persons are from various districts in the state. Since Dubai was not in the initial list of the 19 countries from where citizens were being screened, they were not screened at Mumbai airport.

The Administration has formed five teams which include officials from the Revenue Department, Police, Health and both Pune and Mumbai Municipal Corporations to track those who had travelled with the couple to Dubai. In addition, it is also listing down people who came in contact with the couple at their workplace or the areas where they visited to keep a check on them too.

The spread of the virus outside China is worrying but not an unexpected development. Punekars are now specifically advised to take care of themselves and follow these seven aspects precisely to prevent the epidemic.

1) Covering mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
2) Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms, maintaining a distance of at least 1 metre
3) Wear a mask immediately and report to the nearest medical facility as advised.
4) Clean hands with soap and water or alchohol-based hand rub.
5) Avoid unnecessary and unprotected contact with animals.
6) Stay in home isolation for 14 days after travelling, sleeping in a separate room, limiting contact with other family members and avoiding visitors.
7) Not panic.
