Bhopal, March 11: Amid the political turmoil in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Congress and the BJP have decided to move their MLAs to safe locations to prevent attempts of poaching. BJP MLAs have been sent to Gurugram in Haryana while Congress MLAs are being sent to Jaipur in Rajasthan. This is after around 22 MLAs and leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday posted their resignations to the Kamal Nath govt.

Meanwhile, the Congress has sent two of its leaders, Sajjan Singh Verma and Govind Singh to Bengaluru to pacify the rebel MLAs who are staying in the city. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath yesterday expressed confidence that his government will complete its term. Earlier, BJP MLAs from Madhya Pradesh reached Gurugram from Bhopal late last night. After a meeting of the BJP Legislature Party in Bhopal, Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava said that they were going out of the state capital to celebrate Holi with the party MLAs. Political happenings and meetings continued in Delhi and Bhopal during the day.

A delegation of BJP leaders met Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker N P Prajapati in Bhopal and handed over the resignations of 19 rebel Congress MLAs who are staying in Bengaluru. After receiving the letters, Mr Prajapati told reporters that he will take decision as per the rules. Senior BJP leader Bhupendra Singh claimed that the number of Congress MLAs resigning could reach 30 very soon.
Earlier in the month of November 2019, Scindia had left the INC jawstruck, when 20 Congress MLAs of the state close to Scindia had gone missing and unreachable for two complete days. After consistently being sidelined from the internal affairs of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Scindia had also shed off his party name and changed his Twitter bio to a 'public servant and cricket enthusiast', fueling fresh speculations over the political tensions brewing within the party.

He while making the change, had consciously avoided establishing his links with the Congress, giving no indication that he was either a part of the party or the Madhya Pradesh government which is led by Kamal Nath. Scindia was seen as a front runner for the post of PCC chief but due to a lack of consensus, the party eventually put the appointment on the back burner. His stature as a leader was dented considerably after the Congress registered a shocking defeat in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year setting a chain of events that culminated into Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as the party president, leaving young guns like Scindia lost and clueless.
